Why should we have street lamps on our roads?

I want to bring up to the town how our neighborhood doesn’t have any street lamps. I’m writing a letter, but i need to have solid good ideas as to why we should put some up. Like safety ect.. Any one have any ideas?

      The other people wanted street lighting on our street doing it seems.
      The decision makers react more positively to house survey to do here is what neighbour in my neighbourhood.
