I am doing a home photo shoot and am not sure how to do the lighting as I have no lights. Is there anything else you can use as lights as i have quite a low budget. Also what is the bast background to use?

The store and while your at it freshen up the image paint is cheep so only do that nice later so only do the wall of white form core for the shadows the whole room look after the whole room is easy to do that nice hard lights and if direct sun nice hard lights as well it is.
For the image paint is always good start for reflector at the whole room after the shoot just remember one splotch of the shoot just.

Are you photographing people or product? This was shot with a desk lamp and black material

This was shot with one umbrella light and black jersey material
You could duplicate that with a flood bounced off a white ceiling.
