Two of my CFB have burned out within a year of installation in house lamps. Could it be from voltage spikes?

Ruby’sMom asked:
At this rate, they are not cheaper than the incandescent ones, and I would like to be able to use them.
I would also like to find some high-lumen ones for reading lamps.
Thank you for thinking of this.
One is used in year-old from W-M gooseneck lamp, other in base-sideways lamp that is 18 years old.
Thanks for Verilux suggestion, will check it out.
