Do light bulbs in lamps get looser?

Posted by admin

…every few months, I have to tighten the light bulbs in my lamps. If I forget, eventually, they get so loose that they stop lighting up. I’m the only one living in my place. How are they loosening themselves? Vibrations from traffic?

I’m glad someone else has that problem. I had a lamp that did that same
thing. Can’t help you out with an answer, though.

They obviously get looser if you must tighten them periodically. Results from vibrations from the bulbs and through the lamp from surrounds.

Lights get loose in time from the metal base heating and cooling from the lights environment. Hot things expand and contract when they cool. When the base cools it sits just a little different each time. If you have a light that is on often you probably don’t notice it as much!
