What is the purpose of a table lamp and floor lamps?

By purpose i mean like what is does, how the way it should be used effects the height it should be made at. (for both table and floor lamps)
By purpose i mean like what is does, how the way it should be used effects the height it should be made at. (for both table and floor lamps)
so for example is it that a table lamp shouldn’t be very tall as they are only used to see certain areas whereas a floor lamp is much higher because the light needs to spread out across further. - Is that right?
How do you suggest i should write it?
