Does using desktop lamps instead of the CFL lamp in the room damages the eyes during desk work?

Friday, September 30th, 2011
Huseyin asked:

When I am working on the desk everybody says that don’t just open the lamp of the desk that damages your eyes. Which is true? Using the desk lamp only, or using the general room lamp? Of course answer it by means of eyes health.

How does one 3 wire pull switch light one lamp first, two lamps next and finally all lamps in a 3-lamp cluster?

Thursday, September 29th, 2011
charles asked:

This is an old table lamp with 3 bulbs and one pull chain. It sequences by lighting lamp 1 on the first pull, lamps 2&3 on the second, and all three on the last pull. How does this switching work and where can I find a similar pull switch?

What company in Berkeley California manufactured lamps?

Monday, September 19th, 2011
karnagesmistress asked:

I recently acquired a mid-century lamp. I would love to know more about it, but the company label is partially worn off. I know the company name started with “Pres” and they had an office in Berkeley, California. A word or city that begins with “Nesha” is also on the label.

Is it safe to have heat lamps underneath my mobile home?

Saturday, September 10th, 2011
Blueberrygal asked:

A water pipe burst and the wood, insulation and vapor barrier got wet. The repairman pulled the insulation out and vapor barrier back to expose the wood beams. He has low heat lamps aimed at the beams for several days and nights to dry out the wood to prevent mold. Because they are on day and night, I worry about safety. He says its safe and he checks them everyday. Is this standard practice? Do you think this is safe?
