Laura asked:

A friend has one and she told me what they were but i can’t remember. I know they are kinda expensive. I think they are some kind of glass lamps. you get them at specialty shops. But you don’t burn them for long and when you blow them out they still smell good. it is driving me nuts, can anyone help….
They are small and very decorative, don’t really know much else about them just know that it was kinda a odd name.

Delightful Lamps to Light Up your Home

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009
Vicki Duong asked:

Adding light to any room instantly heightens the look, style and ambiance. Who wouldn’t love a bit of light to their home, since lighting is one of the more affordable ways to redecorate? With lighting options such as table lamps and floor lamps never going out of style, it’s a lot easier to choose which type of lighting will go with your home while complementing your personal style.

Table lamps, for instance, come in a variety of designs, sizes, and shapes, but regardless they all perform the same function. Ideally used as reading lights, table lamps can also be easily used as accent lights for any room or hallway in your home. Now, this all depends upon the style and size of your table lamp. If per chance your lamp features a traditional style, complete with an accordion lamp shade and pull chain, it may be best to utilize it as a reading lamp in your living room, den or bedroom. Accent lamps usually have a much more unique feel to them and have a contemporary design. These are best used as corner pieces along the walls of your living room or foyer. Contemporary styled lamps usually sit well on console tables, end table pieces and coffee tables, which will add a hint of loud style to any demure room in a tasteful yet fun manner.

Floor lamps also act as terrific accent lights while offering an illuminating glow to any room. Usually placed in corners, there are a few types of floor lamps that you could get away with placing right next to your sofa or love seat. For instance, if your floor lamp happens to be adjustable and is used mainly as a reading lamp, then it’s perfectly alright to have it placed by your reading couch. Otherwise, it’s best to keep floor lamps in the corner. Torchiere lamps are the prime example of floor lamps that should always be kept in the corner. The only tricky thing about torchieres is that you have to make sure nothing will fall into the shade. Since they’re upward facing lamps, spiders, bugs and even curtains can fall in, which may bulb burnouts or worse yet, fires.

Essential to homes everywhere, lamps are the quintessential to interior design. And with the right lamp, you’ll be looking at your home in an entirely different light!

Table Lamps From a Living Tradition

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009
Maurice Robertson asked:

The Antique and Vintage Table Lamp Co have just added a new range of decorative reproduction table lamps to their collection.

The company is well known for their extensive range of antique lighting, i.e., table lamps at least 100 years old.  They are now expanding their range to add vintage and contemporary porcelain lamps in antique style, thus continuing a living tradition.  By example, China is well represented, with its unique one thousand year history of porcelain production and multitude of shapes and styles to draw from.  Some of the decorations they have included were first created during the Ming dynasty, circa 1450.

The lamps pictured were reproduced to commemorate the most expensive vase ever sold.  This original Ming vase was purchased in May 2006 by American, Steve Wynn for US$10,200,000, who then donated it to the Macau museum!

The Antique and Vintage Table Lamp Co believe that the essence of a room is in balanced and effective lighting.  The true value of any scheme will not be realised if this important element is overlooked.  Choosing good table lamps will make a substantial contribution to correct this problem and will certainly add to the pleasure of home life.

Lighting is a major key to creating atmosphere within the home and the trend now is for minimal use of down-lights with a softer approach to interior lighting.  The company’s new range offers a choice of alternative vintage and reproduction lamp styles that compliment all interiors from traditional to contemporary.

The Antique and Vintage Table Lamp Co are a complete one-stop-shop for decorative antique lamps and hand made, silk and linen shades.

The Antique & Vintage Table Lamp Co ship lamps, ready wired for the U.S, the U.K and Australia.
